The Janome MB4 and Melco EP4 machines call for the Organ DBxK5Q1 needle. We recommend the Organ DBxK5Z1 needle which provides even better results. The DBxK5Z1 needle was not available when the machine was originally designed. The needles are identical with the exception that the DBxK5Z1 needle has an additional feature (side scarf) at no additional charge.
The DBxK5Q1 needle is a modified form of the DBx1 needle. It has an oversize eye (approximately 25% larger), a long extended groove, a longer deeper scarf and a slim point (NY taper). The long extended groove provides more protection to the top thread. The longer deeper scarf allows the hook point to be adjusted closer to the center of the thread loop allowing for variations in registration from one needle position to the next. The slim NY taper point reduces penetration resistance for smoother piercing of the material. These needles are available in sizes 60/8, 65/9, 70/10, 75/11 and 80/12.
The DBxK5Z1 needle is exactly the same as the DBxK5Q1 needle with the exception of its side scarf. The side scarf allows less interference between the needle and the rotary hook. These needles are available in sizes 70/10, 75/11, 80/12 and 90/14.
